Low Vaccination Capacity in SADC Delays Immunity Achievement in the Region

The Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers argues that poor progress in vaccination campaigns is responsible for the high rates of Covid-19 infection in countries in the region.

According to Verónica Macamo, the low vaccination capacity in SADC delays the achievement of community immunity goals in the people residing in these countries.

The President of the Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community, Veronica Macamo spoke on Monday in Maputo, at the opening of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of SADC.

Macamo explains that the meeting aims to search for strategies for the implementation of the calendar of activities of the body, in a context of pandemic Covid-19.

The Extraordinary Meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers this Monday, in virtual format, serves to prepare for the next meeting of the same body and the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community.

The event takes place from the 9th to the 19th of this month, in the city of Lilongwe, Malawi.
