The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is participating today and tomorrow in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, in the 42nd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The theme of the event is “Promoting Industrialization, through Agro-Processing, Mineral Resource Transformation and the Development of Regional Value Chains, for Inclusive and Resilient Economic Growth.
According to a statement from the President’s Press Office, the Summit will address, among other issues, political, peace and security issues, as well as economic and social issues, within the framework of strengthening regional integration, mobilizing collective efforts to address the multiple challenges facing SADC and its Member States, for the welfare of the people of the region.
At the Summit, Filipe Nyusi will also witness the handover of the Presidency of SADC from Lazarus Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, and the declaration of acceptance of the Presidency of Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On this trip, President Nyusi will be accompanied by the Vice-Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves; Agriculture and Rural Development, Olegário Banze; Economy and Finance, Amílcar Tivane; Mineral Resources and Energy, António Saíde; General Commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, Bernardino Rafael; Deputy Chief of General Staff, Bertolino Capitine; High Commissioner of the Republic of Mozambique in the Republic of Botswana, Domingos Fernandes; officials from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
