U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday (7) that the United States will intensify attacks on Iran “with great force” and threatened to expand the offensive to “areas and groups of people that have never before been considered targets.”
“Iran will be hit with great force. Areas and groups of people that have never been considered targets are now being seriously considered for destruction and certain death,” he added, without providing further details.
Trump’s comments came in response to an apology issued earlier on Saturday by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to neighboring nations for Tehran’s attacks.
Pezeshkian stated that Gulf neighboring countries will no longer be attacked by Iran, except if attacks on Iranian territory are launched from those states.
“The Transitional Governing Council decided [on Friday] that there will be no attacks against neighboring countries, nor missile launches, unless an attack on Iran comes from those countries,” he declared in a speech broadcast on state television. Several Gulf nations host U.S. military bases. Neighbors of Iran have been targeted by drones and missiles since the beginning of the conflict on February 28.
Pezeshkian reiterated what Iranian religious authorities stated on Friday, assuring that Iran will not surrender to the United States or Israel, in response to Trump’s demand for “unconditional surrender” to end the war.
