Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Vows to Drive US Out of Middle East

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stated on Tuesday that its strategy is to expel the United States from the Middle East and sustain pressure until it achieves a “permanent deterrence” that prevents future attacks against Iran.

“Our strategy is clear: until we expel the United States from the region, until we punish the aggressor and achieve permanent deterrence so that no one dares to attack Iran, we will not abandon our commitment,” said Revolutionary Guard spokesman Brigadier-General Hosein Mohebi, as quoted by the Tasnim news agency.

Mohebi stated that before the war, between 30 and 40 US warships were present in the Persian Gulf, while currently, according to his account, none remain in those waters.

The spokesman contended that US naval vessels are now positioned at least 500 kilometres from the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, arguing that Washington’s current threats represent an attempt to frame what he described as an “obvious defeat” as a victory.

US President Donald Trump recently reiterated that American forces maintain control of Hormuz and stated on Monday that “enormous quantities” of oil are being extracted through the strategic waterway.

According to data from maritime consultancy Kpler, oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz averaged approximately 13.2 million barrels per day during the last week — roughly 77% of pre-war levels.

Against this backdrop, Trump on Saturday rejected a seven-day plan proposed by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The plan sets out seven conditions, including a cessation of hostilities across all regional borders, the lifting of the naval blockade and oil sanctions on Iran, and the release of Tehran’s frozen funds.

Nevertheless, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met on Monday evening in New York with Qatari mediators with the aim of “paving the way for the fulfilment” of the Islamic Republic’s conditions. Following the meeting, Araghchi said his country is awaiting Washington’s response.
