Iran has suspended indirect peace negotiations with the United States, conducted through mediators, citing continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Tehran reiterated that no agreement with Washington will be possible unless attacks on Lebanon cease.
The decision was announced by Iranian media, which accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement signed in April. Iran also warned that the current truce with the United States could collapse if the situation in Lebanon continues to deteriorate.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have expanded their military operations in southern Lebanon, saying they are targeting Hezbollah positions. The Iran-backed group has vowed to continue fighting, and exchanges of fire between both sides have intensified in recent days.
The escalating conflict has prompted France to request an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Iran has maintained that a ceasefire in Lebanon remains a key condition for any future diplomatic breakthrough with Washington.
At the same time, tensions between Iran and the United States have increased around the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military reported carrying out strikes against Iranian targets, while Tehran claimed it responded by attacking a facility used by American forces. Both sides accuse each other of provoking the latest escalation.
Despite the growing tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism, stating that Iran still wants to reach an agreement and suggesting that a deal remains possible if conditions improve.
