Trade in Goods Between Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Macao Down 13.1% in H1

Foreign trade in goods between Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau fell 13.1 per cent in the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2023, it was announced today.

In the first six months of the year, imports and exports between Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao totalled 656.4 million patacas (75.3 million euros), compared to 755 million patacas (86.6 million euros) in the first half of 2023, said the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

Brazil and Portugal were the Portuguese-speaking countries with the highest values in foreign trade in goods with the Chinese special administrative region in the period under review, with a total of 494.3 million patacas (56.7 million euros) and 159 million patacas (18 million euros), respectively.

Brazil exported goods worth 494.1 million patacas (56.6 million euros) to Macao in the first six months of this year and imported 200,000 patacas (22.9 thousand euros) worth of goods.

Portugal exported goods worth 156.8 million patacas (17.9 million euros) and imported 2.1 million patacas (240.9 thousand euros) from Macao in the first half of 2024.
