The Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Zacarias da Costa, met on Monday, 3 July, with the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Veronica Macamo, as part of the Global Conference on Human Rights, which will take place for two days (5 and 6 July) in Maputo.
The event aims to promote reporting, implementation and monitoring of the recommendations of human rights mechanisms, as well as the identification of common challenges. It also intends to help define the paths to be followed in the future.
Quoted in a press release, Verónica Macamo stressed that the conference is an opportunity for CPLP member states to share information, knowledge and best practices on involvement with mechanisms to promote human rights.
“The moment will serve to exchange views and impressions on how to improve our cooperation, but also on how to leverage the various areas, particularly economic,” pointed out the minister.
In addition to representatives of the CPLP, the event will be attended by people linked to the Mozambican Ministry of Justice and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
