Covid-19: Vaccination Exceeds Two Million Doses Worldwide in Six Months

Vaccination against covid-19 has exceeded two billion doses worldwide in six months, with a total of 215 countries or territories covered, Agence France Presse (AFP) announced Thursday.

According to the French news agency, since December 2020, when the vaccination process against the new coronavirus began, at least 2,109,696,022 doses have been administered.

In total, six out of every 10 doses have been administered in the three most populous countries in the world: China (704.8 million doses), the United States (296.9 million), and India (221 million). Israel is the country with the most vaccinated population, with six out of ten citizens already fully vaccinated against covid-19.

Canada already has 59% of its population with at least one dose administered, followed by the United Kingdom with 58.3%, Chile with 56.6%, and the United States with 51%.

In the European Union, 254.98 million doses were administered to 39% of the population, with Germany leading the way with 43.6% of the population with at least one dose of the vaccine, Italy with 40%, France with 39.4%, and Spain with 39.4%.

On the other hand, points out AFP, there are six countries that are still not vaccinating the population: four in Africa (Tanzania, Chad, Burundi, Eritrea), one in Asia (North Korea) and one in the Caribbean (Haiti).
