Money sent to the country by Angolan citizens living abroad grew by 16.8 percent in April, May and June, standing at 3.9 million dollars, compared to the previous figure of 3.3 million.
According to the National Bank of Angola’s “Remittances and Other Personal Transfers” report for the second quarter, in the opposite direction, there was a 12.7 percent reduction in remittances sent.
In April, May and June, 52.75 million dollars were sent abroad, compared to 60.39 million in January, February and March (Q1).
Compared to the same period last year (Q2 2023), remittances sent abroad fell significantly, to 73.7 million dollars.
In the same period last year, Angolans sent 126.49 million dollars abroad. Now, 52.7 million dollars have been sent, which nevertheless keeps the balance of remittances in the country’s favor negative. Read more about this in tomorrow’s Jornal de Economia & Finanças.
