Mota-Engil to Receive Another 3.3 ME for Work at the Port of Cabinda

The Angolan president has authorised an addendum of 3.3 million euros to the contract for dredging work at the port of Cabinda, under the responsibility of construction company Mota-Engil Angola, due to worsening macroeconomic conditions.

The contract for dredging the access channel, manoeuvring basin and docking berths of the New Breakwater and Cabinda Pier, whose value and date are not mentioned in the presidential order, was signed between Mota-Engil Angola and the Transport Ministry, as part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities.

In the presidential order, dated 6 January, President Lourenço said that the “worsening of macroeconomic conditions led to an economic and financial imbalance of the contract, which is a supervening and relevant change in the circumstances on which the parties based their decision to contract,” and thus there is a need for an addendum to the contract, in the amount of 2.1 billion kwanzas.

In another two presidential dispatches, the President of the Republic authorises the opening of two public tenders.

One of the tenders for construction and equipping of the Conventional Landfill in Cabinda Province, worth 4.4 billion kwanzas (seven million euros), and for construction of 43 elevated water tanks with a capacity of 100 cubic metres in Cabinda Province, worth 2.5 billion kwanzas (four million euros).

The other tender is for the facilities of the General Inspection of State Administration including refurbishment of the Muxima Plaza building, at an estimated cost of 4.7 billion kwanzas (7.6 million euros), and acquisition of furniture and computer equipment, for 3.7 billion kwanzas (5.8 million euros).
