Sonangol has reactivated operational activities in block KON-11, in the onshore Kwanza basin, concluding the drilling of the “Tobias-13” well, with a total depth of 960 metres, the Angolan oil company announced in a statement.
According to the company, the preliminary assessment of the main reservoir indicates the presence of hydrocarbons whose production potential will be assessed after the conclusion of the drilling of a second well in the same block, “Tobias-14”, which is already underway.
Sonangol, the operator of the block, has the largest stake in the KON-11 contractor group with 30 per cent, with the remainder distributed among Brite’s Oil and Gas with 25 per cent, Atlas (APEX) with 20 per cent, the Simples Oil Group with 20 per cent and Omega with 5 per cent.
The blocks are concessioned by the National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG).
