Angolan Banking Association Advocates for Sustainable Financing to Boost the Country’s Development

The president of the Angolan Banking Association, Mário Nascimento, called on financial institutions to adopt a broader view of financial sustainability, viewing it as a strategic opportunity to boost Angola’s economic and social development.

“It is important to recognize that financial sustainability is not limited to meeting reporting requirements. It represents a strategic opportunity to redefine how we finance national development,” he explained.

According to Mário Nascimento, this goal can only be achieved through the joint commitment of the government, the financial sector, and civil society, with each of these parties playing its part in promoting a more inclusive and sustainable development model.

“No bank, no institution, and no regulator will be able to bring about this transformation on its own. Success will depend on the ability to build partnerships among the financial sector, the government, multilateral organizations, investors, the private sector, and civil society,” he said.

This position was put forward during the 4th Conference on Sustainability in Banking, held in Luanda under the theme “Sustainable Financing in Angola: From Strategy to Implementation with Inclusive Impact.”
