Initial and evaluation tests at the Espadarte 7ST2 well, located in Block 2/05 of the Lower Congo Basin in the province of Zaire, Angola, have yielded encouraging results, with production stabilizing between 2,000 and 2,500 barrels of oil per day, with no water present.
The announcement was made this Tuesday, the 12th, in a press release accessed by Jornal de Angola, issued by the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels (ANPG), Etu Energias (operator), and partners of the Block 2/05 Contractor Group.
The extended-reach well, which aimed to evaluate, within the Tertiary Reservoir, the channel sand bodies in the preferred zone with the greatest extent and thickness, intersected eight productive intervals with a total thickness of 53 meters, confirming the presence of high-quality reservoirs with average porosity between 18% and 25% and good average permeability, exceeding what was previously observed in the Espadarte-2 well, drilled in 1993.
For the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANPG, Paulino Jerónimo, quoted in the same press release, the success of the well’s drilling is very encouraging.
“The results achieved, the quality of the reservoir, and the effectiveness of the technical solutions adopted indicate that this is the right path toward increasing domestic production and boosting local content. It is proof that the hydrocarbon development initiatives outlined by the government are on the right track,” emphasized the head of the national regulatory agency.
