Angola Sonangol to Receive 2 Additional Oil Tankers

Angola’s National Oil Company (NOC) Sonangol will receive two additional oil tankers this year as part of the parastatal’s reinforcement of its shipping and export capabilities, each boasting the capacity to transport one million barrels of crude oil, thus increasing its international fleet from nine to 11 ships.

Constructed by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, the first of the two Suezmax oil tankers will start operations immediately following delivery in April, while the second vessel will be received in September this year.

Designed to transit the Suez Canal, the ships boast a length of 2,749m and will be 48m in width and 23m in height and are considered by Sonangol to be among the most capable ships currently on the market.
