Angola: Oil Exports Up $8.1B in Q2

Angola exported 96.8 million barrels of crude oil in the second quarter, up 0.56% compared to the previous quarter, and raised $8.1 billion (€7.4 billion), according to the government.

The information was provided by Angola’s Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, noting that the volume exported, at an average price of $84.9 per barrel, represents an increase of 1.98% compared to the same quarter in 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony to present the results of the Angolan oil and gas industry for the months of April, May and June, he pointed out that China was the main destination for Angolan crude oil in that period, with 54.83% of the total volume exported.

Spain with 8%, India (7.84%), Canada (4.11%), France (3.71%) and South Africa (3.5%) were the other destinations for Angolan oil exports.

The amount received by the Angolan authorities rose by 2.38% compared to the first quarter of 2024 and by 12.19% compared to the same quarter in 2023.

Of the volume exported, the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (the Angolan concessionaire) led the way with 25.67%, followed by state-owned Sonangol with 14.81%, while the international companies included Azule Energy (15.82%), TotalEnergies (12.47%), Esso (9.94%) and Equinor (6.83%).

According to José Barroso, gas exports in the period in question totalled one million metric tonnes, of which 82.45% represents LNG (liquefied natural gas), totalling $566.84 million (€521 million) of the volume exported.

Gas exports this quarter represented an increase of almost 10% compared to the previous quarter.
