Japan has expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Angola, with a particular focus on the agricultural sector, as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
This intention was expressed by the Japanese ambassador to Angola, Hiroaki Sano, during a visit to the municipality of Quipungo, in Huíla province, where he toured projects supporting agricultural production and access to water.
The visit is part of the monitoring of the Resilience Project to Support Small Producers and Rehabilitate Water Wells, implemented in partnership with the World Food Programme, with the aim of strengthening the productive capacity of local communities.
According to the diplomat, Japan remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to improving the living conditions of the Angolan people, with a focus on increasing agricultural production and strengthening community resilience.
“The world is a small place, so we must always strive to strengthen our ties,” said the ambassador, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Hiroaki Sano added that the Japanese government’s goal is to deepen ties between the two countries, acknowledging the possibility of new projects to support Angola’s agricultural sector.
“We want to further strengthen relations between Japan and Angola, between the Japanese and Angolans,” he declared.
“There will certainly be other projects, including those aimed at increasing agricultural production,” he emphasized.
Angola and Japan are marking 50 years of diplomatic relations this year, established in 1976, a journey marked by the progressive strengthening of cooperation in various areas of development.
