Huatong Industry Angola, an aluminum smelter located in the Sino-Ord Industrial Park in Bengo Province, has shipped its first batch of 500 tons of aluminum ingots to the Netherlands.
This initial operation follows the inauguration of the manufacturing facility on January 15 of this year, in a ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
The export process will take place over two days, totaling 1,000 tons of aluminum ingots. The factory’s current production stands at around 240 tons per day, highlighting the progressive growth in the facility’s production capacity.
In statements to the press, the director of the Bengo Integrated Economic Development Office, Pedro Barros Katende, considered the moment an important milestone for the socio-economic growth of the province and the country.
“This is a clear sign of progress in the industrialization process. It is a gain and a step forward. We are seeing progress in the province of Bengo and in Angola as a whole,” he stated.
In addition to the export of aluminum ingots, the manager noted that part of the production has been absorbed by the domestic market, where approximately 500 tons of aluminum have already been sold, contributing to the supply of the national industry.
On that occasion, the commercial director of Huatong Industry Angola, Barra do Dandel, Shi Guo Xing, said that the production strategy involves consolidating the domestic market, and then turn its attention to foreign markets.
“Since its inception, the Huatong factory has produced around 240 tons of ingots per day, and we plan to increase production in the coming months. The initial priority is to supply the local market and, subsequently, the foreign market,” explained the Chinese manager.
