A total of 32 agricultural co-operatives of ex-military personnel in Cuando Cubango province have benefited from funding valued at 320 million kwanzas from the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA).
The head of the Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) in Cuando Cubango, Jacob Paulo, told Jornal de Angola that each ex-military cooperative had benefited from 10 million kwanzas to promote agriculture, livestock and beekeeping.
These cooperatives, 15 of which are in Menongue, seven in Cuchi, four in Cuito Cuanavale, Mavinga with three, Rivungo, Cuangar and Calai with one each, have already benefited from one tractor each in 2023, making a total of 32 tractors made available, with the respective agricultural implements.
Funded projects
Data presented shows that, since 2022, Cuando Cubango province has benefited from more than 2.8 billion kwanzas to support national producers and improve the business environment in the region, through the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), Credit Support Programmes (PAC) and Socioeconomic and Productive Programmes for Ex-Military Personnel.
These projects, which are part of the Programme to Support Production, Diversify Exports and Substitute Imports (PRODESI), enabled 176 projects to be implemented, resulting in the creation of 614 direct jobs.
He pointed out that in Cuando Cubango, the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) had financed 94 projects for the same number of young people in the province, aimed at agriculture, with a total value of 282 million kwanzas.
Under the Credit Support Program (PAC), set up under Presidential Decree 94/22, of April 22, more than 983 million kwanzas was allocated to finance 50 projects and 285 direct jobs.
Meanwhile, under the Socio-economic and Productive Program for Ex-Military Personnel, as part of the National Plan to distribute 500 tractors, the province received 32 tractors, corresponding to funding equivalent to 1.6 million kwanzas, for cooperatives on this fringe linked to the agriculture and livestock sector.
A further 122 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises were certified, with micro-enterprises accounting for 95 percent of total coverage, in the trade and services sectors. Compared to the same period last year, there was a gradual increase of 25 percent in the use and issuing of the new digital platform.
