The European Union (EU) will fund four new projects in Angola in the areas of the blue economy, circular economy, civil society and justice and governance valued at 90 million euros, the Angolan press reported today.
According to Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the guarantee of funding for these projects, as part of cooperation between the EU and Angola, was presented by the European Union ambassador to Angola after an audience with the president of the Angolan parliament.
Rosário Bento Pais said that she had discussed the cooperation programme with Angola with Carolina Cerqueira. According to the Angola Press news agency, the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, who arrives in Luanda on Wednesday, will sign the agreements with the Angolan Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme.
“When she comes, the commissioner will sign four financing agreements with the minister (of Planning) in four areas: the blue economy, the circular economy, civil society and justice and governance, totalling 90 million euros,” said the diplomat, quoted by RNA.
The Joint Assembly between the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACP) and the European Union, which is taking place in Luanda, was also one of the points discussed at the hearing.
