British Petroleum (BP), one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, has an investment portfolio valued at approximately $5 billion aimed at increasing oil production in Angola through the “Paz Project.”
The matter was discussed on Wednesday in London, UK, during a working visit by the Minister of Mineral Resources to BP’s headquarters, as part of cooperation with the British oil company operating in Angola through its participation in the Azule Energy joint venture.
On that occasion, Diamantino Azevedo, quoted in a press release from the Angolan Embassy in the United Kingdom, noted that “it is very important to maintain high-level contacts with the largest companies operating in the oil sector, so that we can continue to demonstrate our consistency in terms of the policy of attracting investment to the country, specifically in our sector, where we have maintained stability and innovation over the years.”
During the meeting, the possibility of increasing cooperation between BP and Sonangol in the area of “storage” and distribution of petroleum products was also discussed, not only for Angola but for the region.
Stability and innovation
In this regard, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas stated that he conveyed to partners a commitment to maintaining stability and fostering innovation so that the Angolan oil sector remains competitive, given its geological potential and experience, while fulfilling signed contracts and enforcing the law.
During his visit to BP in London, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas was accompanied by Angola’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, José Patrício; the chairman of Sonangol’s Board of Directors, Sebastião Martins; and the director of the National Oil and Gas Agency, Alcides Andrade.
The BP delegation was led by Executive Vice President Gordon Bill, accompanied by the company’s CEO, Meg O’Neill, and the Chairman of Azule Energy, Joe Murphy.
Diamantino de Azevedo is also participating this Thursday in the British capital in the “Angola Oil, Gas, and Mineral Resources” Investment Conference, whose theme is “Angola: Mineral Potential for Modern Industry.”
