With subsidized interest rates ranging from 7.5% to 10% per year, the credit line from Banco Millennium Atlântico (BMA), in partnership with the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) and the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), aims to support women entrepreneurs with loans of up to 200 million kwanzas in all sectors.
The project, called “Linha de Crédito Mulher Atlântico” (Atlantic Women’s Credit Line), was launched on Wednesday, 11, during a presentation workshop held at Cidade Financeira in Luanda. It aims to facilitate access to financing for women-led businesses and promote the formalization, sustainability, and growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
The initiative also aims to facilitate access to credit for cooperatives, with a direct impact on financial inclusion and economic development. It also aims to support and strengthen female entrepreneurship in Angola. It covers projects across the entire economic sector, with priority given to agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, farming, trade, health, and some projects linked to sustainable development goals, such as education and others.
Addressing the difficulties faced by women entrepreneurs, Isabel do Espírito Santo, PCE at Banco Millennium Atlântico, admitted that many women have faced barriers in accessing finance.
