Huatong Angola Industry, Lda., the owner of the Aluminium Industrial Park in the municipality of Barra do Dande, in Bengo Province, expects to bring the first phase of the final stage of its industrial project into operation this week, according to an announcement by the company.
Located in the Barra do Dande Free Zone, the Aluminium Industrial Park represents an important contribution to the industrialisation of the region and to the diversification of the national economy. With an investment of USD 250 million, the first phase is expected to create more than 1,200 jobs, most of them for young Angolans.
The facility will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes of electrolytic aluminium, which can be processed into alloys, sheets, rods and other derived products.
The second phase of the project, valued at USD 500 million, foresees the production of 240,000 tonnes per year. Overall, the Huatong Aluminium Industrial Park will comprise five development phases, with a total estimated investment of USD 1.6 billion over a period of eight to ten years.
