On Monday, Angola and China strengthened their strategic cooperation in the fields of mineral resources, oil, and gas during a meeting held in China.
The event took place during a meeting between the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and the Vice Minister of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Zhou Haibing.
At the meeting, the two countries emphasized the importance of continued political support to deepen the presence and investment of Chinese companies in Angola, according to a statement sent to JA Online.
The document further states that, on that occasion, the delegations highlighted the need to elevate the bilateral partnership to a higher political-strategic level capable of generating mutual benefits for both peoples.
The NDRC is China’s main economic planning body, responsible for defining development strategies, approving major projects, coordinating investments, and guiding energy policies and international cooperation.
Meetings with China’s Ministry of Natural Resources
Also on Monday, the minister met with his Chinese counterpart, Guan Zhi’Ou, with whom he reviewed the current state of cooperation in the field of mineral resources.
At the meeting, Angola reaffirmed its commitment to continue providing institutional support for projects carried out by Chinese companies in the country and expressed interest in attracting more Chinese investment to the mining and oil sectors.
According to the document, Angola’s ambassador to China, Dalva Ringote Allen, and Sonangol’s CEO, Sebastião Martins, accompanied Diamantino de Azevedo to the meeting.
