Zimbabwe’s tourism industry generated more than USD 1.2 billion in revenue from 1.6 million international visitors in 2024, while also attracting record investments of USD 190.5 million.
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi, emphasized that this sector has become a pillar of the country’s strategy to achieve an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
In 2024, the country not only welcomed over 1.6 million visitors but also achieved a 7% increase in investment compared to the previous year, demonstrating the sector’s resilience and growth potential despite global challenges.
The main drivers behind this success include improved air connectivity, strategic destination marketing, and the country’s tourism-friendly environment.
In addition, with the launch of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Policy (2025–30), the Government has set out a clear framework for the sector’s future, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and eco-friendly tourism practices.
