The Cape Verdean State has received the second instalment, worth €45 million, of the upfront payment предусмотрed in the contract for the concession of public airport services to Cabo Verde Airports, part of the Vinci Group, Vice Prime Minister Olavo Correia announced on Friday (19).
This amount, added to the first instalment of €35 million paid at the start of the concession, “totals the €80 million stipulated in the contract,” Olavo Correia said.
The concession was formalised on 18 July 2022 and provides for the management, over a 40-year period, of the country’s four international airports and three aerodromes.
This is a concession that the Cape Verdean government decided to award to Vinci Airports through direct award, granting Aeroportos de Portugal a 30% stake in the Cape Verdean-registered company (Cabo Verde Airports) created to take over the contract.
In addition to the upfront payment, the concessionaire is required to transfer annually to the State a percentage of gross revenues, set at 2.5% for the first 20 years, increasing to 7% during the last ten years of the concession.
The Vice Prime Minister highlighted that the investments planned for the first phase of the contract have already been completed within the agreed timeframe and validated by the granting authority.
Olavo Correia stressed that the overall balance of the concession is positive, pointing to the increase in air traffic, with more than three million passengers in 2024 and 3.1 million recorded up to November 2025, as well as the opening of new routes, including by low-cost airlines from the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy and France.
