Turnover in Cabo Verde's services sector expanded 12.4% year-on-year in the second quarter, the country's National Statistics Institute (INE) announced on Tuesday.
"The wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and transport and storage sectors recorded the most significant contributions to the year-on-year change in the overall index," the INE stated in its bulletin on the Services Sector Activity Indicators (IASS).
Wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, posted a year-on-year increase of 24.3%, while transport and storage grew 10.3%.
On a quarterly basis, however, the services sector turnover index edged down 0.7%.
Full-time and total services employment indices recorded positive year-on-year changes of 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively, in the second quarter.
The gross wages index rose 11.1% year-on-year and 2.1% compared with the previous quarter.
In the first quarter of 2026, services sector turnover had grown 6.7% year-on-year.
