Hotels and lodging establishments in Cabo Verde received approximately 277,000 guests in the second quarter, a 9% increase compared with the same period in 2024, according to data released by the archipelago's National Statistics Institute (INE).
The majority of visitors were foreign nationals, with the United Kingdom retaining its position as the leading source market, accounting for roughly one quarter of total hotel guests.
During the period under review, establishments recorded approximately 1.3 million overnight stays, a marginal decline of less than 1% relative to the second quarter of 2024. The bed occupancy rate stood at 52%.
Sal island remained the archipelago's principal tourist destination, concentrating 62% of all hotel guests, followed by Boa Vista with 18%.
Tourism continues to be one of the primary drivers of the Cape Verdean economy, underpinned in recent years by the expansion of air connections between the archipelago and European markets.
