Air Zimbabwe has announced the resumption of scheduled direct passenger flights between Harare and London Gatwick Airport, with operations set to commence on 22 July.
In a statement issued last week, the national carrier said the route will be operated three times per week, with departures from Harare on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Return flights from London Gatwick will depart on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The airline will operate out of Gatwick’s South Terminal.
The Harare–London service will be flown on an Airbus A330-300 under an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) wet-lease agreement with Spanish carrier Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas.
Under the arrangement, Plus Ultra will be responsible for providing the aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance, while Air Zimbabwe will handle ticket sales, passenger services, and the commercial management of the route.
The airline described the link as ‘one of the most significant milestones in our history’, saying the initiative reflects its commitment to restoring international connectivity and strengthening Zimbabwe’s ties to key global markets.
According to the carrier, the reinstatement of the route is expected to boost tourism, trade, investment, and diaspora connectivity, while also reinforcing economic relations between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom.
