Revenues from the exploitation of the Pande and Temane natural gas deposits in Inhambane province maintained their growth trend last year, primarily reflecting the increase in prices on the international market.
Data released by the National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH), the state’s business arm in the hydrocarbon industry, shows that, for example, in 2023, revenue from the sale of this energy resource totalled 1,610 million meticais.
This information appears in the financial statements recently released by ENH for the previous year.
The document also states that this venture, called an oil production project, is registering a positive performance, despite the operational difficulties of maintaining equipment and guaranteeing gas sales agreements in force.
The production agreement provides for the development and production of gas resources from the Pande and Temane deposits, as part of the natural gas supply contract to South Africa, which materializes an agreement between Sasol, ENH, Companhia Moçambicana de Hidrocarbonetos and the Mozambican government.
