Government Approves New Oil Exploration and Prospecting in Mozambique

On Tuesday, the government approved the decree approving the terms of the oil exploration and production concession contract for the Save offshore area, the National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH) and a Chinese multinational.

The spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Filimão Suazi, said that this measure comes as part of the implementation of mining resource policies and the strategy of granting hydrocarbon exploration and production areas.

At Tuesday’s session, the executive also approved the resolution rectifying the Compact II financing agreement for Mozambique, totalling 500 million dollars.

At the meeting, the spokesperson for the Council of Ministers announced that a press conference would be held later this week to discuss the current stage of the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration process for former Renamo guerrillas.
