The Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE) is assessing the quality of oil products available on the Mozambican market, a crucial measure to ensure that they reach consumers within the recommended standards, the news agency reported.
According to the source, this action began last week and is focused on petrol stations, with special attention to petrol and diesel. Initially, ARENE’s assessment is concentrated in the provinces of Maputo, Inhambane and Gaza, and may later be extended to other regions of the country.
According to a statement released by the regulatory authority, the primary aim of this initiative is to protect the interests of consumers, “ensuring that they receive good quality products and that petrol station operations comply with the laws and regulations in force in Mozambique,” explained the regulator.
ARENE also emphasises that this measure is essential to preserve transparency and the trust placed in the oil market.
It should be noted that the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE) is responsible for regulating and supervising all activities related to the supply of liquid fuels, guaranteeing compliance with the established rules and regulations.
As such, the authority carries out periodic monitoring at petrol stations in order to check the quality of the liquid fuels made available to consumers.
This scrutiny is important at a time when Mozambique has recently introduced less polluting diesel to the market, helping to preserve the environment, the source said.
