Mozambique Gas & Energy: Kerry Logistics Advocates Digitalization and Innovation to Boost Cross-Border Trade

The General Manager of Kerry Project Logistics in Mozambique, Rémy Bayha Kodock, stressed on Tuesday (23), during the panel “AfCFTA and African Integration of Infrastructure, Trade and Logistics” at the Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit 2025, that modernizing customs processes and investing in digitalization are crucial steps to boost cross-border trade and improve Mozambique’s competitiveness in the regional context.

According to him, simplifying customs formalities and creating digital platforms that allow real-time tracking of transport, shipping, and clearance operations would be decisive measures to reduce costs and delays.

“Today, the customs clearance process remains very cumbersome. We need digital solutions that allow operations to be tracked from a mobile phone application,” he said.

Bayha also underlined the need for logistical synergies between provinces and regions, highlighting the importance of integrating Mozambique into existing trade corridors with countries such as Zambia, Malawi, and Tanzania.

“We must think with a provincial, regional and then continental vision. We cannot forget that we are Africans and that integration is the key to sustainable development,” he added.

For the Kerry Project Logistics representative, innovation and regional cooperation are indispensable conditions for Mozambique to seize the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and establish itself as a strategic logistics hub on the continent.

The 10th edition of the Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit & Exhibition is taking place from September 22 to 24 in Maputo, bringing together the main players of the national and international energy sector.

Organized in partnership with the Government of Mozambique, the event positions itself as the country’s leading platform for debate and cooperation on its energy future, with a focus on industrialization, energy transition, and local development.
