The National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH) considers that there is no room for giving up the French multinational Total in the exploration of the liquefied natural gas discovered in the Rovuma basin, due to the terrorist actions in Cabo Delgado.
The executive commercial and new business administrator at ENH, Pascoal Mocumbi Júnior, points to several factors that hold Total back in the gas business in Mozambique.
“What is intended at the moment is to find ways to reactivate the activities as soon as possible, that is the spirit at the moment. They are working hard with the Mozambican authorities to reactivate that activity,” he said and added that: “the construction was already going at a good pace, the financiers and buyers are already committed to the project and the service providers nationally and abroad were already committed to the project, some even working on the project.
The executive director for commercial and new business at ENH, Pascoal Mocumbi Júnior, was reacting on Friday to rumors that the multinational Total has a preference for liquefied natural gas projects in Tanzania over those in Mozambique.
