The Temane Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant, in the province of Inhambane,
will generate 450 MW of electricity that will be injected into the national grid to meet the country’s needs and to supply clean and low-cost energy for the regional development of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The forecasted generation of the electricity results from the USD 760 million investment for the Temane Natural Gas Project, particularly the development of the additional natural gas reservoirs that are around the Inhassoro and Temane fields, in Inhassoro district, Inhambane province, under the oil sharing contract that had the development plan revised by the Government in September 2020.

It will also allow the production of 23 million Giga joules of natural gas per year, which will be used for the production of 30 thousand tons of cooking gas per year in what will be the first unit of its kind in the country.
In a press release to which “Noticias” had access yesterday, the Ministry of
Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) emphasizes that the production of 30 thousand tons per year of cooking gas (LPG), will make Mozambique stop importing about 75% of the volume currently 75% of the volume currently purchased from abroad.

export.
