The districts of Ribauè, Lalaua, Mogincual and Liupo, in Nampula province, have been without electricity since Sunday, 29 January, due to the fall of medium voltage poles caused by bad weather in that part of the country.
A statement from Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) said that technical teams from Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) were on the ground to re-establish the normal supply of electricity to the affected areas as soon as possible.
Being in the rainy season, the company reinforces the appeal for the observance of prevention and safety measures.
“EDM reinforces the appeal for the observance of preventive and safety measures, such as avoiding being near any electrical equipment, avoiding touching electrical cables or poles and, during the period of technical intervention, as a precaution, all electrical installations should be considered to be permanently live,” the company’s statement read.
