“Mozambique to Export Electricity to SADC Countries” – MIREME

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, said this Thursday, 11 July, that the country will export electricity to some countries in the southern African region from next year, based on the gas explored in Inhambane province.

According to Rádio Moçambique, the minister was speaking during a visit by the Mozambican President to the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric plant in Tete province.

On the occasion, the minister referred to the Temane power station, whose infrastructure construction work is progressing at a satisfactory pace, in line with international energy standards.

As well as exporting to neighbouring countries, the energy to be produced in Inhambane province will also feed the national market in the various customer categories.
