Mozambique’s ambassador to Algeria, Carvalho Muaria, held a meeting with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and mining.
According to a statement released on Tuesday 17 October by the Algerie Eco portal, during the talks, the parties examined investment opportunities in the hydrocarbons sector, with regard to the exploration, production and export of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), as well as the development of renewable energies.
On the occasion, the Mozambican ambassador expressed his “desire” to have Algeria contribute and participate in the country’s existing projects through mutually beneficial partnerships.
“We’re hoping for collaboration between Mozambican companies and the oil company Sonatrach and the Algerian national electricity and gas company, Sonelgaz, so that there can be an exchange of experiences,” said Carvalho Muaria.
For his part, the Algerian government official guaranteed his country’s willingness to respond to Mozambique’s requests, adding that there are great opportunities for investment and partnerships.
