The CEO of public company Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Marcelino Alberto, said on Friday (21) that the construction works of the Temane to Maputo power transmission line will be completed by the end of this year.
The 400-kilowatt transmission line will be supplied by natural gas produced in Temane, in Inhambane province, southern Mozambique.
The official, cited by Radio Moçambique, said he was pleased with the progress of the work, at a time when 20 percent of the 1,389 voltage towers have already been installed.
“We have seen that, in terms of construction, 80 percent of the foundations are already in place and around 50 kilometres have been cleared,” he said.
Alberto also said he was “enthusiastic” about the construction of 236 houses to resettle the families involved in the power line project.
