Cahora-Bassa Hydroelectric Plant Could Become a Benchmark in Southern Africa

Hidroeléctrica de Cahora-Bassa (HCB) is on its way to becoming a regional benchmark in the sale of surplus electricity in southern African countries.

This is due to the fact that HCB is one of the companies listed on the Southern Africa Power Pull electricity exchange, with a considerable number of surpluses sold in the SADC region.

The Chairman of HCB’s Board of Directors, Tomás Matola, said that the surpluses listed on the stock exchange are also sold to other countries.

At the HCB dam, there are five generator sets that produce four hundred and fifteen megawatts of electricity.
