The President of Botswana, Duma Boko, today (29) expressed his interest in strengthening bilateral, lasting and sustainable cooperation with Mozambican in the areas of energy generation, transmission and distribution for both countries.
Boko said this during a visit to the Maputo Thermoelectric Power Station (CTM), in the company of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe.
‘It’s an impressive plant serving a noble and great purpose, not only in the Mozambican economy, but also for the daily lives of people in Mozambique,’ he said.
The plant, a gift from the Japanese government, has a production capacity of 106 megawatts.

‘What is also most important and impressive is the fact that 40 per cent of the workforce is made up of women and young people trained in science and technology. This is an inspiration and ambition to have parity,’ he said.
The Head of State of Botswana made it known that both countries are endeavouring to ensure that both peoples (Mozambican and Tswana) have full access to energy.
‘I am very grateful to have visited this power station and it serves as a permanent inspiration, also Botswana is working on a 300 megawatt coal and methane gas power station.
He added that the level of technical skills on display is an inspiration for Botswana.
