The Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE) has taken a fundamental step towards digitalisation with the introduction of a digital platform to improve supervisory activity in the energy sector in Mozambique, the institution said in a statement.
The new tool, as the document explains, will enable the digital management of processes related to the supervision, inspection and sanctioning of companies in the sector, covering all the country’s provinces.
With the implementation of this digital infrastructure, ARENE aims to ensure that regulated companies strictly comply with the principles and standards applicable to the energy sector. The digitalisation of processes aims to speed up debureaucratisation, guarantee timely responses and promote transparency.
The initiative was formally presented during the first edition of the Supervisory Meeting held on 27 September in Maputo.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, the National Energy Directorate and the Provincial Infrastructure Services. On that occasion, the participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new platform and to harmonise inspection procedures based on the tool.
This technological advance is part of ARENE’s wider strategy to modernise its regulatory activities and respond to the challenges of government policies for the energy sector.
