The government is looking for mechanisms for the soon return of liquefied natural gas exploration activities in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin in Cabo Delgado, which were paralysed due to terrorism, Rádio Moçambique (RM) reported on Wednesday 10 January.
To this end, the Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, held separate meetings on Tuesday with the secretary of India’s Ministry of Oil and Gas and representatives of Indian companies with investments in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin in Cabo Delgado.
At the meeting with the Mozambican head of state, the Indian investors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to invest in the country’s gas, as well as the return of activities in that exploration area.
The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, explained that India has a 30 per cent share of the total investments in Rovuma gas exploration, and has so far invested around 13 billion dollars.
He assured that the French concessionaire TotalEnergies and the Indian companies are coordinating for the rapid return of activities in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin
This Wednesday, the President of the Republic is scheduled to speak at the opening of the Gujarat Global Summit, hold talks with his Czech counterpart, visit the Mahatma Gandi Museum and meet with the Mozambican community living in Gujarat, India.
