The European stock markets are preparing to open this first session of the week on a high note, at a time when stock futures in the “old continent” are appreciating, in line with what is also happening in the US.
In the Asian session, during the early hours in Portugal, the indexes managed to register gains, ranging from a 0.1% rise in China to a 1.5% advance in South Korea.
Investors seem to have digested well the underwhelming US employment numbers from the previous week. The market pointed to the creation of about 1 million new jobs, but in reality 266,000 were created.
Still, the US S&P 500 touched historic highs last Friday, highlighting that investors did not hold onto the labor market numbers as expected.
This Monday, and with commodity prices on the rise, companies linked to raw materials managed to lead gains in Asia and a similar trend is expected in Europe.
In focus continues the results season for the first quarter of this year.
