Meet the Largest Urban Forest in the World

Inhabited by more than six million people, Rio de Janeiro is a city of unusual size.

But all this is forgotten when one visits the Tijuca Forest.

The conservation area of 33 square kilometers is the result of reforestation done at the end of the 19th century by order of Emperor Dom Pedro II.

The objective was to restore the area destroyed by coffee plantations, in order to avoid erosion of the hills that surrounded the city.

Curiosity: there are several tourist attractions in the Marvelous City located in the Tijuca Forest, such as the Botanical Garden, the Lage Park, and the Corcovado.
