How About a Visit to the World’s First Hotel Entirely Operated by Robots? It’s Set to Open Soon

Check-in, baggage handling, housekeeping, meals, and room service. There’s a new hotel where all these tasks will be performed exclusively by robots, offering an experience entirely managed by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Checking in without speaking to a staff member, having meals delivered by a robot, watching your luggage be transported autonomously to your room, and finding the hallways cleaned by intelligent machines may soon cease to be a technological curiosity and become the norm. That is precisely the promise of the world’s first hotel fully operated by robots, which is set to open its doors in 2027 in China.

The project is being developed by the Chinese company Pudu Robotics, in partnership with Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development, and will be located on West Artificial Island, built as part of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link megastructure—one of the world’s most complex over-water road links. According to the companies, it will be the first hotel designed to operate without human intervention in all customer service operations.

Unlike other hotels that already use robots for specific tasks, such as room service or housekeeping, this project aims to automate the entire guest experience. The robots will be used at the front desk, during check-in, for luggage transport, for room service, for meal preparation and delivery, for housekeeping, and to assist guests throughout their stay.

The operation will be coordinated by an artificial intelligence platform developed by Pudu Robotics. The system combines the PuduFM 1.0 AI model with the PuduAgent platform, allowing different robots to share information and work together as a single intelligent ecosystem. Thus, one reception robot will be able to interpret gestures and social interactions, while another autonomously optimizes delivery routes and yet another adapts cleaning methods to conditions encountered in real time.

Among the machines already confirmed are the FlashBot, which operates a smart system for selling and delivering beverages ordered via smartphone; the PUDU T300, which will transport luggage to guest rooms; and the PUDU CC1 Pro and PUDU MT1 cleaning robots, equipped with AI-based debris detection technology.

During the project’s official presentation, other robots from the company, such as the BellaBot Pro and the KettyBot Pro, also demonstrated their capabilities by serving coffee and distributing drinks and snacks to guests.

The opening will take place in phases. A pilot operation is scheduled for late 2026, with a few rooms available to the public and an initial set of robotic services. The full opening is scheduled for 2027.

The hotel will feature 44 premium-category rooms, a restaurant, a gym, and other common areas, all integrated into a smart, 24/7 operating system. However, the goal extends beyond the hospitality industry. The entities involved aim to transform the entire Ilha Artificial Oeste into an international hub dedicated to robotics, artificial intelligence, and tech tourism, gradually expanding this automation model to other tourism services by the end of the decade.
