After huawei and Xiaomi, Alibaba is the next Chinese giant to bet heavily on the electric car market.
The also online commerce giant is preparing the launch of the electric saloon it has developed in partnership with SAIC and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech to set new standards in the category. The L7 will be sold in two different models, which come equipped with two different battery sizes.
The first is equipped with a 93 kWh lithium-ion battery, which achieves a range of 615 kilometers on a single charge.
The second model gets an impressive 118 kWh battery, which offers 1100 kilometers of range also on a single charge. The more powerful of the two has 400 kW and 700 Nm, taking just 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
In terms of performance, the Chinese brand promises that the electric sedan will accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in less than 4 seconds. Data on the electric propulsion system has not yet been revealed, but it is estimated to be something in the region of 540 hp of power.
The car will also have autonomous driving and will be equipped with 12 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and a Lidar.
Highlight also regarding the interiors: the dashboard provides a 39″ “smart display” with 4K resolution. Finally, it will be the first series production car equipped with a wireless charging system, which will have, according to the company, 11 kW and a charging efficiency of 91%. In theory, the energy recovery capacity is 80 kilometers of range per hour in wireless mode.
According to the brand, the Zhiji L7 will hit the market in the first half of 2022 and bookings began last April.
