Tmcel Looks to Ericsson for New Technology Solutions

Mozambique Telecom (Tmcel) and Ericsson recently signed a partnership agreement under which the flagship operator will use Ericsson Charging and Ericsson Mediation software to modernise its Business and Operations Support Systems (BSS/OSS), as well as Ericsson Dynamic Activation to strengthen network performance, improve operational agility and the customer experience.

According to media publication Fax, the contract allows Tmcel to launch new offers and personalise them for the operator’s subscribers, as well as boost and accelerate the digital transformation process.

By upgrading to the latest versions of these technological solutions, Tmcel will be able to monetise its current services and launch new ones, while offering excellent reliability and performance that is unique in the market.

According to the same publication, the agreement also includes Ericsson Dynamic Activation, which will act as a platform for activating and managing the lifecycle of user services, helping to boost the performance of Tmcel’s network.

For the chairman of Tmcel’s Management Committee, Mahomed Mussá, this agreement emphasises the company’s commitment to continuing to provide reliable and innovative services to customers.

This partnership allows Ericsson to supply Tmcel with the latest technological solutions, thus contributing to the modernisation of its infrastructure and improving service provision.

The partnership between the two companies also includes a focus on developing digital transformation skills, which, through comprehensive knowledge transfer programmes and targeted training, will enable Tmcel to manage the platforms autonomously, guaranteeing operational excellence and long-term sustainability.

It is important to note that Ericsson’s OSS/BSS solutions help telecommunications companies accelerate growth, optimise processes and remain competitive as new services and business models emerge with 5G technology. These solutions guarantee seamless service experiences, efficient monetisation and data-driven operations.

Moçambique Telecom (Tmcel) was set up in December 2018 as a result of the merger of the defunct Telecomunicações de Moçambique (TDM) and Moçambique Celular (Mcel).
