Mozambique Updates Sim Card Registration Regulation

Mozambique’s Council of Ministers approved the Regulation on the registration process of subscribers of telecommunications services. The document revokes Decree No. 18/2015, which established the legal framework for the registration and activation of Sim cards for mobile telephony. The new regulation is designed to improve the registration process and safety of citizens in the use of telecom and financial services, contributing to the fight and mitigation of crimes on these platforms. The changes were necessary to adjust to the development of the telecom market due to the introduction of new technologies such as IoT, AI and eSims.
