The National Communications Institute (INCM), Mozambique’s communications regulator, announced on Wednesday, August 20, the launch of a public consultation on two key legal instruments aimed at strengthening consumer rights and improving the functioning of the communications sector in Mozambique. These are the Regulation on Disputes Between Communications Operators and Consumers and the Regulation on Consumer Protection in Communications Services, the entity said in a statement.
According to the note, the initiative seeks to gather input, suggestions, and comments from the general public, operators, service providers, and other stakeholders, with the goal of refining the regulatory instruments governing the sector. The INCM emphasized that the process is designed to ensure greater transparency, improve service quality for consumers, and strengthen mechanisms for defending their rights.
The statement added that the consultation documents are available for review, and interested parties must submit their contributions by 3:30 p.m. on August 29. Proposals may be sent via email to drg@incm.gov.mz or delivered in person at INCM headquarters.
In the public document, the regulator stressed the importance of social participation in this democratic exercise, underlining that “your participation is essential for strengthening the communications sector.”
The INCM believes that a participatory regulatory process is key to ensuring that “the rules are aligned with the real needs of consumers and operators, promoting a fairer, more competitive, and excellence-driven communications services environment in Mozambique.”
