The government has created the Digital Transformation and Innovation Agency (ATDI), an entity designed to coordinate and drive the digital transformation process in the country. The initiative aims to modernize public administration and improve service delivery to citizens. Among the measures planned is the creation of a “citizen portal,” which will bring together various government services on a single digital platform.
The information was released by government spokesman Inocêncio Impissa after the end of the 7th ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, held on Tuesday (10) in Maputo. The government official, who also serves as Minister of State Administration and Public Service, explained that the new agency will play a central role in the reorganization and modernization of digital public services.
According to Inocêncio Impissa, the ATDI’s mission will be to promote interoperability between state digital platforms, data centers, procurement processes, and public service delivery systems. With this measure, the government aims to accelerate the digitization of public administration and facilitate citizens’ access to services provided by state institutions.
“The idea is that citizens will deal with a single government system. When they need a public service, they will no longer have to go to the National Road Transport Institute (INATRO) or the National Migration Service, for example,” explained Inocêncio Impissa, emphasizing that the goal is to simplify access to public services.
According to the minister, the citizen portal will bring together the main government services in a single digital space. “Citizens will only need to access a single point, called the ‘citizen portal,’ where they will be able to find all the information and services they need,” he added. Currently, each sector of the ministries has its own computer systems and databases, which operate in isolation.
With the creation of the new agency, the Executive intends to integrate these platforms into a common digital infrastructure. “This agency will aggregate all existing databases at the public management level and organize them into more appropriate infrastructures, allowing the State to have a single database,” said Inocêncio Impissa.
At the same session, the Council of Ministers also created the National Commission for Artificial Intelligence (CNIA), established the Multisectoral Technical Commission for the Coordination and Implementation of Digital Transformation (CTD), and approved Mozambique’s accession to two international conventions in the maritime sector.
